As I write this I am in fact roughly 10 000 feet in the air, and I'm not in a plane.
I'm in the Andes.
More specifically I'm in Quito, Ecuador living with a host family for a month while I attempt to improve my Spanish.
Not only have I thus far discovered that my Spanish is awful (there is a seven year old in the family who I can only attempt to understand 60% of the time) but I also can't breathe properly because of the altitude.
We'll see what happens but thus far I'm loving the adventure.
Next week I spend 4 days in the rain forest. Keep your fingers crossed that I'll find a cute monkey I can bring home...
